Hello everyone,
My girlfriend and I have a blind dog and wanted to share our experiences with you.
Our dog is 4 years old and lost his sight about 2 years ago in an accident in Romania.
He still has one eye, which allows him to see light and dark. He navigates familiar surroundings very well. In new environments, it is sometimes difficult for him and he bumps into things. To prevent this, we were only aware of a โhaloโ (a ring that goes around the dog’s head). However, we didn’t particularly like this solution because it restricts the dog’s movement.
We now use the echo-blinddog (https://echo-blinddog.com/en/home/), a small device that can be easily attached to the collar. It took our dog a few weeks to understand it, but now he has got the hang of it. We have hardly read anything about it or seen any reviews. Unfortunately, aids for disabled dogs are still very rare. The device is manufactured by a person in France who sells it through his start-up. Please check beforehand whether it is suitable for your dog (hearing ability should be unrestricted).
Maybe it will help your dog, or maybe you know someone who could benefit from it!
Best regards ๐
