My dog is 14, diabetic and just told both eyes need to be removed. So many questions, because of her age, diabetes, heart murmur can she survive the surgery and healing after the surgery. Also what kind of life will she have after? How much pain is she in and will she have after. I am so torn. I am told due to her age and diabetes I should put her down. If anyone has any information or input would love to hear from you.

There is a risk of problems during surgery with both healthy and unhealthy dogs. You just have to weigh up the risks with the amount of suffering the dog is experiencing. If she is in a lot of pain, then you have to decide whether you want her to live with the pain day after day or whether it’s worth the risk of the surgery. Only you can decide.
