Hi Paula, Maggie seems to be doing good, thanks for asking. I’ll have to post new pics soon (if she’ll hold still long enough). The “eye” is healing up nicely. We’ll schedule the next eye visit to check the pressure in the remaining eye w/in the next week. Good thoughts that the pressure is still down!

That is terrific to hear Paula! Great news!

Thanks Paula for keeping us up to date on Lucy. Poor thing has had more than her fair share of problems. I truely wish all gets better for her.

Deena, keeping you and PJ in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted and let us know how it goes. Hopefully you both will feel better after the surgery. As I just experienced this, it definitely was harder on me than Maggie. Maggie is now one month post surgery and doing great. Hoping PJ has the same results!

  • Hello Lanni, welcome and thank you for sharing Louie’s story. He is an adorable little guy!

Thank you. I always tell her, ” how can you look so cute, but be so hateful!” 🙂

    • Thanks for sharing the photos Celeste. She looks like she is doing well. I can see why the cone would be annoying. I’m glad mine didn’t have it.

    • 10 days post surgery? I am surprised. She looks like she is healing soooo nicely! 🙂 She’s a beauty.

Thank you for thinkging of us. I’m new to the blog thing, so I’m working on getting better. I’m slowly figuring out how things work.
You were lucky she didn’t have a cone then. And especially if she didn’t pull the stitches out. That cone has been the absolute worse thing about the whole process. Just 3 more days and it will be off! Yippee!

Wonderful news on Kodie’s pressure! The specialist said that if you can manage the pressure, she had a dog go over 2 years before they had to do surgery on it. Unfortunately we weren’t that lucky as it was already way to high when we got treatment. Yes, I know about making sure to get the medicine on time. I remember hers and then forget my…[Read more]

  • This is a very interesting subject.   We had already made plans on getting a Lab puppy before Maggie was diagnosed.  (Our friends will be breeding their dogs this fall, and since my husband is part of their […]

    Correction, it’s called CareCredit.

    • Thank you for the suggestion. I have heard of it. I need to apply for it in case we do need it. I found out the removal of his eyes will be 1800 – 2300. I am assuming that is per eye, but I forgot to ask when I got a quote from the eye specialist. I am trying to stick some money away each paycheck. I am sure I will not have enough saved up…[Read more]

Maggie, pre-surgery. Yes, she thinks this is her kitchen chair. After we adopted her, we found her previous owner apparently allowed her to sit in a chair at the table with her while eating. And no, it’s a habit we never broke until I changed dining room table and chairs. 🙂 MAGGIE 2010

@debbien Hi Debbie, hope Kodie is doing well and his eyes are stable. Meds are a pain, but at least they put off surgery at the moment. Just wanted to let you know of some financial help after reading your earlier post. Not sure if you are even interested, but there is a type of a medical credit card that you can use on both humans and animals.…[Read more]

    • Debbie, just be aware that an eye specialist is going to charge a lot more than a regular vet. For the removal surgery for my dog (one eye) it cost around $750 Australian but that is around about the same in US dollars. I have seen lower quotes from people on the net. I would talk to your regular vet about it and get a quote from them as well.…[Read more]

    • Debbie, where abouts are you from? The US? Our vets (There are 2 at this practice)specialize in a few different areas, and she told us it would be about 500 CDN to remove each of P.J.’s eyes. She’s also done this quite a few times. I hope that you don’t end up paying 2300! That seems ridiculous.

      • Yes, I am in the US. Our local vet will not remove the eye. We have to go to the eye specialist which is a couple hours away.

  • Welcome Kathryn and Griffin!  I hope you keep us updated on Griffin.  It sounds like you are just a few steps in the process ahead of me and Maggie.  I know about the cone issue.  Although Maggie is not a […]

Hello everyone, sorry for not logging on for a while. Thank you all for the concern and well wishes. Your wishes and prayes have worked magic. Maggie had her surgery and is doing much better now. The first few days were exhausting. She came through the surgery just fine and was more than happy to see us and go home! The only problem was and…[Read more]

    • So happy to hear from you Celeste!! I have been thinking about you a lot wondering how you and Maggie made out. I am so happy to hear she made out fine and is starting to be her old self. I think the surgery scares me more than dealing with the blindness (although that part scares me too). Keep updating us. It is helping me prepare for it.…[Read more]

    • I’m so glad that everything is going okay Celeste. We have been waiting to hear from you and I was almost tempted to email you to see how it was going.

My dog never had a cone after the surgery. The vet just never put one on her and at the time I didn’t know much about it and didn’t realize that others use them for this type of surgery.

    • Awesome!! So glad to hear things have gone well and that she was quickly back to herself! I too was waiting to hear! Glad all is good. Keep the updates and pictures coming. I am so happy for you.
Debbie-I think the surgery scares me more then the blindness too!
