Daisy just came home from our vet after having her right eye removed yesterday from glaucoma. She is also blind in her left eye. We are trying to save the left eye with eye drops. Can anyone tell me whether or not they have had any luck in using eye medication for glaucoma to save her other eye?

  • Sorry, I should clarify – strict with crating in that I’m constantly putting her in and taking her out again. Not planning on crating 24/7

  • I’ve recently adopted an english setter who had an enucleation due to glaucoma in one eye, and has lens luxation with cataracts in the other, rendering her very nearly completely blind. I’ve had her for about 2 weeks- initially she was perfect. Learned stairs, layout of house, was quiet when kennelled/left alone. As I am doing more training wit…[Read more]

    Hi Janice,
My dog recently lost her right eye to glaucoma also. I have an appointment with an eye specialist to see what I need to do for the other eye. Her left eye is fine now but from what I researched, it seems like the second eye usually develops glaucoma approximately 8 months later. There is nothing you can do to prevent it, but I think you…[Read more]

My dog had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove both eyes due to repeat corneal ulcers. He is going on 14. He is having a problem doing his business on the potty pads which I need to put down when I go out. Now I have pads ALL over the house. Any helpful info will be greatly appreciated…

    Hi Janice,

You should ask your dogs Vet or eye doctor about this.
My dog had the injection in one eye but his other eye is also blind now.
He gets 14 eye drops per day, including one drop in the eye that had the injection.

Have her eye tested for pressure, there is no way to know otherwise.

  • Whilst out on our walk this night through the lanes we tend to chanced on a woman and her dog who was muzzled, however he was off the lead.

Jones was on lead and as we tend to approached the woman she hooked her finger in her dog’s collar and place him on the lead. Because the lane is admittedly quiet and not a lot of traffic we tend to asked the…[Read more]

  • Hi everyone! I have a 10 month old German Shepherd names Walter. He has been blind since birth and had to have his eyes removed at 4 months due to hemorrhaging from retinal detachment. He has recovered well from surgery and doesn’t appear to be in any pain. He has always had sensitive hearing and can pick up on sounds that my family and I c…[Read more]
